Bassoonist Morgan Davison, 22, is currently studying at The Juilliard School as a Masters student, and recently earned her Bachelors of Music from Manhattan School of Music. While at both schools, Morgan has had the privilege of studying with Kim Laskowski, Associate Principal Bassoon of the New York Philharmonic.
Recently, Ms. Davison was one of ten semifinalists for the 2019 Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition, an international competition dedicated to young female bassoonists from the Americas. Passionate about solo playing and chamber music alike, Morgan has been the recipient of many awards, including being named a two-time winner for the National YoungArts Foundation, a three-time winner for her home state of Colorado’s Young Musician’s Foundation, and a semifinalist in the Fischoff Chamber Competition. She has traveled to numerous countries for her art, including Taiwan, Italy, Switzerland, and England.
During her summer months, Morgan has attended prestigious festivals such as Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Summer Music Festival & School, and The Sarasota Music Festival. While attending the 2018 Aspen Summer Music Festival, Morgan was privileged to work with Walt Disney Animation Studios and prominent studio musicians from LA to showcase and tribute original scores from the last decade of great Disney movies.
In her free time, Morgan loves to commit to arts and crafts like embroidery and painting. Born in beautiful Colorado, Morgan is an enthusiastic hiker and loves to spend as much time as she can outside with her twin brother Cameron, and her family’s Australian Shepherd, Max.
